NOODS: Operator Store Submission Best Practices

Operator vs. Operator Project File

There are two types of files when working with NOODS Maker and NOODS.

Operator Project File (*.operatorproj)

  • The editable save file of your Operator in NOODS Maker
  • Contains your art, animations, dialogue, sounds, and settings
  • Opens in NOODS Maker only
  • Share this when someone else needs to edit or export your Operator

Operator (*.operator)

  • The finished, exported Operator
  • Only works in NOODS if you exported it yourself or bought it off of the Operator Store
  • Can’t be edited
  • Can’t be directly shared

Three ways to get your Operator to other people.

1. Maker-to-Maker Share

Send your Operator Project File directly to another NOODS Maker owner. Why send an Operator Project File instead of the Operator directly? An exported Operator only loads for the person who exported it, so your recipient needs NOODS Maker as well.

Good for:

  • Private sharing for friends
  • Commissions
  • Collaborating on a project

How it works:

  1. Send your Operator Project File (Discord, email, cloud drive, etc.).
  2. Recipient opens it in their own copy of NOODS Maker.
  3. Recipient exports the Operator and imports it into their NOODS.

2. Sell on the NOODS: Operator Store

Sell your finished Operator to anyone with NOODS. Learn more about selling on our wiki and in Steam’s documentation.

Good for:

  • Monetizing high quality Operators
  • Hands-off selling; we handle promotion and hosting
  • Reaching users who don’t own NOODS Maker and a larger audience

How it works:

  1. Finish your Operator in NOODS Maker.
  2. Set your price. The store is paid-only.
  3. Submit through NOODS Maker for approval.
  4. Operator is available to purchase through Steam’s NOODS: Operator Store. You receive a percentage for every Operator sold.

3. (Coming Soon) Share on Steam Workshop

Share your Operator Project File with other NOODS Maker owners. All uploads are public and free for anyone to use.

Good for:

  • Sharing your Operator for free
  • Templates and bases for others to build on
  • Community remixes and collabs

How it works:

  1. Upload your Operator Project File to the Workshop.
  2. Downloader opens it in their own NOODS Maker.
  3. Downloader exports the Operator and imports it into NOODS.
